Are You Laboring or In Love?

A regular, and very important, part of my mind-body health routine is to take 5-10 minutes every morning to read or listen to something interesting, uplifting or inspiring. I find it helps to set a positive tone for my day and helps program me to get clear and grounded on the things I aspire to be, do and have.

Recently I posted on my Instagram page a beautiful passage I came across one morning this week from the well-known poet, Kahlil Gibran. I also shared my interpretation of the passage and what it meant to me. After posting, I had several requests to share it so I thought I’d also include it here on my website for you! Please take a look for yourself and see if it brings up any feelings or revelations for you – if so, I’d love to hear!

Here is my interpretation:

  1. By “weariness” he means if you feel like “life is doing you” and you’ve lost your joy – it is often because we need to examine our beliefs which we’ve usually learned from others and then we find we are marching to the beat of someone else’s drum rather than following our own path and finding our own answers.
  2. His reference to “urge”, to me, is synonymous with “inspiration”. Therefore when we work without being inspired it feels bleak and unclear.
  3. By saying “urge is blind save when there is knowledge” he means feeling inspired can do no good unless you know what to do with it
  4. When he says “all knowledge is vain save when there is work”, he means you can have a lot of “information” (knowledge), and know what to do with it intellectually but without action, knowledge is useless.
  5. When he says “all work is empty save when there is love” is the big one! 🙂 It means when you work with no joy in your heart it will only lead to frustration and will not bare succulent fruit nor will it be fulfilling. Love is the key and that is why work can be called “a labor of love”…or else it’s just labor!
  6. Lastly, it is LOVE that is the magic that binds us to our deep inner spirit, our Higher Self, our soul eternal essence, the universe and to God, the life force itself and all there is.

So that’s how I see it! How do YOU interpret it? I’d love to know or to hear of what you do to keep yourself emotionally, mentally and spiritually fit!

Post in the comment box below or send me a message or email:)

Hugs xx
