Getting Your Spark, Your Zip, Your EXCITEMENT for Your Life Back: Awakening and Living Your Heart’s Desire

Do you know WHO YOU ARE and WHAT YOU WANT?
Are you sure?
Beyond “fitness” what is the very core foundation of our lives and what we manifest are our beliefs and feelings about Who We Are, What We Want, If We Can Get It and then having the Courage to Follow It.
Said another way, it’s our Heart’s Desire!

If you had trouble answering my original question, fear not…you are not alone! Many of us – particularly us Reformed People-Pleasers – have trouble answering this question because at some point in our lives, we started to live more in accordance other’s expectations rather than our own. We shifted from being inner-directed to outer-directed. Whether due to trying to get along, not make waves, avoid punishment or ridicule or maybe even because of our own insecurities, many people are living with a low-grade semi-permanent blah-factor and have lost touch with what would really make them feel alive inside. Instead, we wake up each day and do what needs to be done, what’s expected and is the right thing but after a period of time, a slight dull haze starts to take over our lives.

I’ve actually heard it said that most people over the age of 50 are already dead but their corpse is just walking around for another 20 years or so!

Not me! I didn’t want that. Do YOU?

Wouldn’t it be great to get back in touch with your internal compass? Your “Emotional GPS”? Your North Star? Then you could get your fire back, your passion, your spark, your zest for life?!

I’m here to tell you: You can do it!
But to do so you need to awaken your heart’s desire, because the heart is the home of passion, of knowledge…of all desire.

How do you do that? Well, I’m gonna share with you how I did it.

In order to be able to live in accordance with your heart’s deepest desires you need to first do two things:

  1. You must first be clear as to who you really are – who you are at your truest and most pure self – without any outside programming, social masks, identities, labels or expectations.
  2. You must be clear on want you truly want without the influence of those same outside influences.
  3. You must have the courage to follow it once you know – despite rejection, pain, and isolation. (if necessary).

I hope it helps to bring more clarity for you which then can then spark that first flicker of a flame of feeling, of energy, of excitement or enthusiasm in your heart which can then grow to release an flood of energy and soon compel you to TAKE ACTION to make the positive changes you desire. After that you will be on your way forward in the direction of your heart’s desire…your dreams! 🙂

Answer These Questions to Establish Your Guiding Principles and Identify Your Personal Happiness Formula (Your Heart’s Desire!)

1. Who Am I?

What is your “Identity”, What labels do you use to describe yourself (Ex: Mother, Lawyer, Daughter, Friend, Ex-Smoker, Beach-Lover, Exercise-Enthusiast, etc…) and how does this differ from who you really “are” without those labels? Are these labels consistent with you you want to and aspire to be?

 

2. What do I want?

List your top 3-5 desires/goals. It’s amazing how many of us have either lost touch with what we really want or are not living in accordance with our deepest values and with what we love in our lives.

 

3. What Did I Like to Do As a Child?

Ask a parent, sibling or friend if you forget. Are you doing anything that even resembles this now in your life? If not, commit to bringing some form of it back into your daily, or at the very least weekly, schedule and watch your level of happiness start to dramatically improve.

 

4. What Activities Do I Enjoy Doing and I Lose Track of Time?

This is a HUGE clue as to your passion, your bliss- as Joseph Campbell so famously coined, and your calling. Even if you don’t do activities that make you lose track of time as your profession, just including them as a part of your regular life will pay high emotional dividends!

 

5. How do I want to feel?

Don’t over-think this question. List the first 5 feelings that come to mind and be sure to keep the answers in the positive. (Ex: “light”, “inspired”, “healthy”, “calm”, “safe”) as opposed to (“not fat”, “not afraid”, “not sick”, “not stressed”, etc)

Tips for Success

Answer these 5 questions off the top of your head and resist the urge to edit, over-think or filter. Releasing all self-judgement is the quickest way to allow your Inner Child to come out to play! So please be gentle with yourself and patient and if the answers don’t come immediately don’t stress. That will only make it worse. Just ask each question and if you draw a blank simple go do something else for a while and let them marinate in your subconscious and ask again later. Your heart knows the answers. They are in there and they will come eventually. Then when they do come, if you TAKE ACTION and follow where they lead, you’ll be on your way to Awakening and LIVING Your Heart’s Desire!
