We all carry a council of powerful archetypes inside us, whether we know it or not – in fact, they pretty much run the show from our unconscious! ✨
Archetypes are simply universal “blueprints” of something. They transcend time, culture, location, age, gender, race, etc. and are powerful influences on our lives because they are like “tapes” or “scripts” running in the background of our decisions and our behaviors.
For this reason, there are four “core” archetypes in particular I’d love to help draw your attention to:
🌼 The Child. The foundational archetype all the others are built on. Wonder, play, beginner’s mind. She brings levity, novelty, joy and a raw presence to life. Yet she’s prone to be dependent, passive and naive if not fully integrated.
🔥 The Wild Woman. Your inner Warrior. She is your instinctual, primal self. Fire, action, movement and your individuality. She protects and is courageous and strong.
👑 The Queen. Your inner Mother. She takes her influence seriously. Grounded, tangible, abundant and nurturing (of both herself and others), she has agency and sovereignty over her Queendom. She receives as gracefully as she gives.
🌊 The Wise Woman. Your inner Sage. She is the one who integrates them all together and now has the capacity to transcend physical power to the spiritual and mental power that only comes with time, direct experience and intention. She is your true authentic self and thus the one that is the most free of all!
Do any of these feel comfortable or familiar to you?
Do any feel totally foreign or even unattractive?
Your answers to the above questions can depend on your life circumstances and stage at the time, yet because all four of these archetypes have both positive and shadow elements, it’s a good idea to be familiar with them and know when the most appropriate time is to express them.
And remember, whether you are aware of it or not, every one of these archetypes is already in you – they just might be asleep or a bit dormant at the moment! 😂
