Can’t Turn Off Your Jumpy Mind: Art Therapy to the Rescue!

Running a business has meant I’ve spent A LOT of time in my head, but I’ve learned that when we do that, we are not living from ALL of our being. If we don’t also tap into the wisdom and love from our “other parts” – like from the body and the soul, than we are living in a compromised, incomplete state. No wonder why we’re unhappy, anxious, overweight, have sleep problems and trouble knowing what to do sometimes!

You’ve probably heard that mediation is a great tool to quiet the mind and access your higher self, but what if you just can’t do it!?!

Now please note I’m not saying to give up your meditation practice – in fact, the very reason you have trouble might be because you need it (haha!)

However, I am saying that there are other means to get to the same end. And just like a good carpenter knows when to use what tool in the toolbox, living a fit and fulfilled life means knowing what “tool” to use when. I call it the Self Love Fitness Toolkit!

The tool I’m sharing with you today is painting and art therapy.

I’ve learned art and painting is a wonderful tool to turn off the mind, express the feelings inside and also tap into the higher self and home of intuition.

This particular painting I’m sharing here is one I created on a day that was VERY challenging for me. I felt extremely stressed, concerned, confused and overwhelmed. But I didn’t know how to help myself or “fix” it. So I decided to practice one of my Self Love Fitness Tools and use art/painting as a healthy outlet for expression, emotional flow and release.

Remember: like I teach in our weekly online coaching calls: feelings are not meant to be “fixed” – only to be “felt” and to “flow”. It’s when our feelings get stuck and do not move out of our bodies that we get sick, depressed and all the other symptoms we don’t want!
