Have you heard of the term “Grounding”? How about “Earthing”? Well, these two words (which I love) refer to our contact with the Earth’s surface! This can be easily done by walking barefoot outside, for example.
Grounding, if done regularly, can have many benefits for our bodies! A few of them would be:
– Improved immune function
– Faster injury healing
– Improved blood circulation
– Easier digestion
– Faster recovery of athletic activity
– Improved sleep
– Reduced stress and anxiety
We tend to forget how amazing disconnecting with technology is, and how good connecting with the earth feels. We CAME FROM THE EARTH, so it feels good to go home, doesn’t it? If you want to be fit and healthy and feel good with balanced, steady energy, I encourage you to make it a PRIORITY to regularly connect with nature and less with technology.
Getting back to nature and how humans have lived for thousands of years will help our current health and fitness goals so much. We can’t beat Mother Nature! So, let’s break free of our 4 walls, go outside to take a walk, sit in a tree, walk barefoot, watch the birds, and remember how amazing this world is.
Even if I can’t promise it will solve all your problems, I can guarantee you will feel much much much better. Being in contact with earth will help you clear your mind, recharge your energy and calm your emotions.
When was the last time you had some time with yourself and nature? Did you feel good about yourself? Did you regret how much time you’re actually spending indoors and in front of a screen? It’s never late for a change.
Are you wondering where to start?
Well, the easiest way is to simply GO OUTSIDE (without your phone!) and just stand with your feet directly on the ground (no shoes or socks)!
That’s it. It’s simple, it’s quick and it’s FREE!
If you want to go a step further, here is a little more detailed Grounding Technique that will help you get started:
1. Go outside in a quiet place, close your eyes to avoid distractions and stand with your feet directly on the ground/grass or dirt (or sitting down if you prefer).
2. Place your awareness on the bottom of your feet, paying attention to all sensations and visualize connecting your feet to the earth like roots of a tree growing down.
(From 30 seconds to 1 minute)
3. Close your eyes, concentrate on your breathing and feel from the inside of your body. Feel the energy of your body receiving and giving – connecting – to Mother Earth. It’s OK if nothing comes up. Just try it. Inner awareness takes a little practice but you will get it! (From 1 to 5 minutes)
Let me know how it goes, and don’t forget to share with me other techniques you might have!
