Tips For Transitioning Into Fall🍂

Hello September! The weather is getting cooler, and the trees are starting to change color. 🍂  

I feel Mother Nature making the transition from the heat of summer to the cooler days of fall.

It’s important to take a little extra care during times of transition!

Here are some easy tips that help me transition into a new season!

  ✨Get grounded – Focus on connecting with nature and Mother Earth in particular, at least for a few minutes each day. Best would be to go barefoot with your feet on the ground and skin directly exposed to Father Sun! Also practicing gentle yoga, like my Yin Yoga or Mobility Classes is great too. Worse comes to worse, just simply taking a pause each day to take some deep belly breaths can do wonders. *BONUS POINTS for connecting with yourself or nature without any electronics!:)  

✨Eat nourishing foods – Try adding some broths, soups, stews and ocean vegetables to your meals. I tend to gravitate to nice warm organic teas on these crisp mornings. And please be sure to take time to enjoy your food – this goes for ANY time of year (!) and same goes for eating seasonally so let’s enjoy all the yummy Fall fruits and vegetables, like apples and pumpkins!    

✨Give your skin some love – With the temperature change, your skin may start to get a bit dry, so use special warming oils and hydrating mists in addition to your clean diet can keep your skin looking and feeling hydrated and fresh.   

✨Clean out the old – To make room for the new! You can start easy and just tackle one draw and then the next time move on to a closet or perhaps hit your whole kitchen on a Sunday afternoon with some upbeat music (or maybe a podcast!) in the background! Cleaning out clutter is a great way to move both physical and emotional energy. Try it out and see how much better and accomplished you feel after.  

Have something to look forward to – This doesn’t have to be anything big. We miss a lot of everyday opportunities to feel joy and happiness when we think we have to hold out for the major events of life like weddings, graduations, parties, vacations, etc. You can simply plan a walk date with a friend (one of my favs!)or a solo date with yourself and a massage or good book. Or you can checkout a new movie you’ve been wanting to see or restaurant you’ve been dying to try.   

Carve out moments for creativity – It’s important to make space for the activities that fill you with a childlike wonder. You all know that I really love painting. Creativity is a mindset and a way of looking at the world that makes it a lot more interesting and fun. So start seeing things with this perspective in mind, and open your eyes to all the possibilities each day holds.
